Are you our next trainee?
Every September, we welcome new trainees to our Lightship Academy program. Aimed at laying out the foundation for a career as a ship broker, this program will teach you the basic market mechanisms, trading practices, legal frameworks, information processing, and client reporting. The training is designed as a mix of self-study, classroom tutoring, and practical group work – on real client assignments – as well as one-on-one mentoring sessions.
Throughout the program, you will be subject to practical tests and continuous assessments. Our goal is to guide as many trainees successfully through the program as possible, and all students will be assigned a personal “buddy” for advice and support throughout the training process. Upon successful graduation from Lightship Academy, you will be ready to take on client responsibilities as a broker in the dry-bulk maritime freight market.

Looking for an internship?
If you are currently studying towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a focus on shipping, we would very much encourage you to apply for an internship in one of our offices. Our internships are designed to enable you to combine your academic studies with practical work within the shipping brokerage industry. This can entail anything from general market analysis to practical voyage cost calculations, as well as various other kinds of client work.
As an intern, you will be welcomed as a full member of the team, and you will follow the Lightship Academy internship program.
